Dealing With Bad Google Analytics Visitor Data

Recently, there has been a growing problem within Google Analytics reports, with the addition of visitor traffic from fake sources. These are often not even actual visitors but are the result of outside manipulation that triggers Analytics to log and display a referral or visit.

Traffic sources that contain the following words are examples of such spam/junk traffic: free-share-buttons; Damodar; best-SEO-offer. Unfortunately, they artificially boost website traffic and mess up the metrics. This is affecting millions of websites worldwide.

AVOID PROBLEM REFERRAL SITES

One thing you should avoid is clicking through to, or visiting any of these suspect referral websites. Part of the reason for these fake referrals could be trying to attract traffic back to those URLs. Further to that, the sites themselves may be a source of viruses, malware, etc.
